Campus History

Saint Patrick’s Bilingual School (SPBS) is a private, secular institution that has been providing continuous educational services from the pre-school level to the twelfth grade, to children and young people, from the municipality of Guayama and neighboring towns.  The School’s facilities are located at the San Antonio, Monserrate, McArthur and Derkes streets, all in the same community, within the heart of the Guayama municipality.

The Institution originates from the need felt by Mrs. Ernestina Rodríguez Rivera, of establishing an institution devoted to  providing  excellence in bilingual education, centered on the child’s integral development.  Since its founding in 1987, SPBS has been devoted to fostering the integral development of its students, in a safe and pleasant environment, with emphasis on the development of values to prepare hundreds of students to become responsible men and women, productive citizens, who may effectively contribute to the improvement of society.

In 1989, in response to the demands of the parents, the students and the general community, the School expanded its academic offerings and began offering programs at the Junior High School level.  Computer courses were started, integrating the use of technology to the teaching and learning process.

In 2003, the High School program was begun, as well as the offering of Dance, Theater, Health, Ethics and French courses to enrich the curriculum.   By May, 2013, the School had graduated eight Twelfth Grade classes.

Our resent efforts have been on improving our facilities for the comfort of our students. We also integrate technological boards in most of the classrooms for a better educational experience, and this year we opened our “Little Clovers Enrichment Center” a program that offers educational services for children two years old and up.

SPBS enjoys the support of its students, the parents and the community, who distinguish it as the most prestigious institution who provide bilingual services in Guayama.
